The rule on stock splits continues to evolve, as can be noted by the changes in price and ratio over the years. Stocks reaching split price a second time are sold down so that 100,000 shares is the largest holding of an individual stock. An additional change was made to increase max shares on stock splits from 10,000 to 50,000 thereby allowing people to either daytrade 50,000 shares or hold 100,000 shares of all stock splits.
